Overview:
Sideline out-of-bounds designed to free 2 for a catch-and-shoot three at the top/wing, using a misdirection rim cut to occupy the defense.
Why It Works
The fake dive by 1 and the quick rim cut by 3 draw the defense inside, creating confusion. While the defense reacts to the misdirection, 2 comes free off a stagger for the clean three-point look.
Key Teaching Points
1 must sell the fake dive hard before sprinting to the wing.
3’s rim cut must be sharp to pull defensive attention.
2 must time his stagger cut tightly off 5 and 4.
1 must read quickly: if 3’s rim cut is open, take it — if not, swing to 2 immediately.
3 inbounds from the sideline (left elbow extended). 5 and 4 stack near the ball-side elbow, 2 is under the rim, and 1 is at the opposite elbow.
1 fakes a dive cut, then sprints off 5 and 4 to the wing to receive the inbound.
2 sets a screen for 3, who cuts hard to the rim as a decoy.
1 dribbles away, then looks back to 2.
2 comes off a stagger from 5 and 4 to the arc for the catch-and-shoot three.
