Overview:
ATO set designed to spring 3 for a catch-and-shoot three after a zipper cut, Iverson action, and elevator screen sequence.
Why It Works
The multiple screening actions (zipper into Iverson into elevator) force the defense to navigate three different coverages in quick succession. The misdirection of 1’s Iverson cut occupies help and sets up 3 to pop free through the elevator.
Key Teaching Points
2 must cut hard through the zipper to sell himself as a scoring threat.
1 must sprint across the Iverson to pull attention to the opposite side.
4 and 5 must close the elevator screen tightly and on time.
2’s pass to 3 must be on target and timed with the elevator release.
1 starts at the top, 3 left wing, 4 left elbow, 5 right elbow, 2 right corner.
2 cuts to the right block and comes up the slot off a zipper screen from 5.
1 dribbles right and passes to 2 in the slot.
4 and 3 set an Iverson screen for 1 across to the left wing (secondary option).
After setting the Iverson, 4 and 5 close into an elevator at the top for 3.
3 sprints through the elevator to the right wing for the catch-and-shoot three from 2
