Overview:
Baseline out-of-bounds designed for a last-second shot, with the primary look being your best shooter (2) coming free in the corner. Secondary option is a slip to the rim if the defense switches.
Why It Works
The back-screen action for 5 draws defensive attention inside, while the screen-the-screener frees 2 to the corner. With limited time, defenses often switch, which makes the slip by 4 especially dangerous.
Key Teaching Points
2 must set a convincing screen on 5 before sprinting to the corner.
4’s cut to the corner must be sharp to sell the action and then immediately flow into the screen for 2.
1 must be your best passer and read the switch early.
Timing is critical — the play is designed for a quick strike.
1 inbounds from the baseline out of a box alignment: 4 on strong block, 2 on weak block, 5 on strong elbow, 3 on weak elbow.
4 cuts hard to the strong-side corner.
2 sets a back screen for 5, who dives to the rim (hit if wide open).
4 immediately turns and screens in for 2, who comes to the strong-side corner for the catch-and-shoot three.
If the defense switches, 4 can slip to the rim
