Overview:
Quick hitter against a 2–3 zone designed to isolate the bottom defender for a 2-on-1, creating a layup, post-up, or wide-open corner three.
Why It Works
The misdirection dribble shifts the top of the zone, while 4 and 5 set double high screens to occupy the top defenders. This movement frees the ball for a quick reversal and isolates one baseline defender, forcing him to guard both the post and corner.
Key Teaching Points
1 must sell the misdirection dribble to move the top line of the zone.
3 must sprint baseline-to-baseline to arrive in the opposite corner on time.
5 must dive to the rim immediately after the high screens to occupy the middle defender.
2 must read the baseline defender: attack the gap, feed the post, or skip to 3.
Align in a 1–4 high: 1 top, 4 and 5 at the elbows, 2 right wing, 3 left wing.
1 dribbles at 3 (misdirection), 3 drifts down to the corner.
4 and 5 set double high screens on the top defenders as 1 negotiates through.
3 cuts baseline to the opposite corner.
1 swings quickly to 2 on the right wing.
2 now attacks the 2-on-1: drive the gap, hit 5 diving, or skip to 3 in the opposite corner for the three.
