Overview:
Zone quick hitter that creates two great looks for threes — first for 1 on the wing, then a misdirection three for 4 after baseline movement and a pin-down.
Why It Works
The overload to the corner forces the defense to collapse low. As 5 back screens the middle defender and 3 pins down on the top defender, 1 is freed for the first look. If that’s covered, the baseline exchange and pin-down create a second clean shot for 4.
Key Teaching Points
Timing of 4’s baseline cut must shift the defense before the screen actions hit.
5 must screen the middle defender hard to open the lane and distort coverage.
3’s pin-down must be physical and well-angled to free 1.
4 must come off the second pin-down tight and ready to shoot.
Align vs zone: 1 top, 2 right wing, 3 left wing, 4 left short corner, 5 right short corner.
1 passes to 3 on the left wing.
As the pass is made, 4 cuts to the baseline corner to overload the defense.
On the catch, 5 back screens the middle defender; 3 sets a pin-down on the left top defender.
1 cuts behind the pin-down to the left wing for the first three-point look.
If no shot, 4 continues along the baseline using 5’s screen to the opposite wing.
1 drives middle, drawing the second top defender, as 2 sets a pin-down on the bottom defender.
4 comes off the pin-down to the right wing for the second three-point look.
