Overview:
Man-to-man quick hitter designed to establish a deep post-up for 5, with a secondary option of freeing 3 for a top-of-the-key three after flex and zipper screening action.
Why It Works
The dribble handoff and brush screen disguise the action, while the cross screen into a flex cut gives 5 prime position inside. If the post feed is denied, the zipper screen immediately frees 3 for a clean perimeter look.
Key Teaching Points
1 must deliver a sharp dribble handoff to 2, then space out.
3 must set a solid cross screen to free 5 on the block.
5 must fight for low-post position on the flex cut.
4’s zipper screen for 3 must be timed with the ball reversal for a rhythm catch-and-shoot.
Start with 1 in the right slot, 4 in the left slot, 2 on the right wing, 3 on the left wing, 5 on the right block.
1 initiates with a dribble handoff to 2, while 3 cuts down to the left block.
2 dribbles to the left wing, using a brush screen from 4, who pops to the top.
Simultaneously, 3 sets a cross screen for 5 to seal deep on the block.
2 looks inside for 5 as the primary option.
If denied, 4 sets a zipper screen for 3, who pops to the top for the secondary option three.
