Setup and Organization

Split the team into two groups, ideally one group at each end of the floor. At one end, place a line of players in the baseline corner (first player with a ball, others without) and a second line in the slot, two steps outside the three-point line (no balls). The first slot player shows active hands, calls for the ball, and receives a pass from the first corner player. The slot player immediately steps into a shot (catch-and-shoot or one-dribble pull-up, depending on the rules). After the shot, the shooter rebounds and kicks the ball back to the corner. The passer follows his pass into the slot line, while the shooter fills the corner line, creating a continuous rotation.

Step-by-Step Progression

1. Corner player passes to the slot, then rotates up to the slot line.
2. Slot player steps into the catch, shoots, rebounds, and swings the ball back to the corner.
3. Shooter fills the corner line, while the next corner player makes the extra pass to the slot.
4. Continuity continues in rhythm. After a few minutes or a target score, reverse the sequence: passes from slot to corner for baseline shots.
5. Rotate through all four segments: slot pull-ups, slot spot-ups, baseline pull-ups, baseline spot-ups.

Scoring

Play by “in-a-rows.” For each segment, the first team to hit six consecutive makes wins that round. Play four total rounds (slot pull-ups, slot catch-and-shoot, baseline pull-ups, baseline catch-and-shoot). If tied after four, run a sudden death round from one slot. Customize scoring by shot value if desired.

Coaching Points

Emphasize communication: passers must call the recipient’s name, receivers must call the passer’s name. Demand clean catches, strong footwork into shots, and shooting in rhythm. Stress balance on the catch and stepping into every shot. Rebounding should be immediate and efficient, with no wasted steps. Keep tempo high and competitive.

Variations

Allow players to choose between one-dribble pull-ups or spot-ups. Adjust shot locations (move to wings, deep corners, or extended range). Add constraints like “first five shots must be pull-ups, then spot-ups.” Use different scoring targets (points instead of streaks). Run against the clock for added intensity.
