WELCOME TO THEHOOPSCOACH.COM - A GLOBAL BASKETBALL COACHING COMMUNITY
The 2-on-0 Drive & Shift drill builds inside-out habits with simple spacing rules. One player (driver) starts on the slot or wing with the ball; the partner occupies the complementary perimeter spot. On the drive into the paint, the partner immediately shifts (lifts or drifts) to open a clear passing window for the kick-out.
Run the action from both sides: slot drive → wing lift; wing baseline drive → corner drift; wing middle drive → slot lift. After the kick-out, shoot in rhythm or swing to simulate second-side action, then rotate roles and repeat. Emphasize decisive movement and precise angles so the pass does not cross a defender’s body.
Coaching Points: drive with intent to score, keep eyes up, and land on balance. The partner reacts on the driver’s first step—lift, drift, or fill to the nearest window. Snap the kick-out on time/on target and be shot-ready on the catch. No dead dribbles; finish the rep with pace.
