PLAY DESCRIPTION

Overview:

Continuity zone offense built from a 1–4 high alignment, designed to overload the ball side with high-low and short corner actions, then reverse the ball to trigger repeated automatics.

Why It Works
The constant dive-and-replace of the posts forces the zone to guard multiple angles at once. On a wing entry, the low post attacks the short corner gap while the high post fills. On a short-corner catch, the high post dives; on a high-post catch, the low post ducks in. Skips and reversals keep the zone shifting until it breaks.

Key Teaching Points

  • Ball reversal must be crisp to trigger continuity properly.

  • Post timing is critical: dive immediately on each trigger.

  • On low-post/short corner catches, the high post must dive without hesitation.

  • Skips to the weak side must be made quickly to exploit shifting defenders.

PRIMARY ACTIONS

  • Start in a 1–4 high: 1 top, 3 left wing, 2 right wing, 4 left elbow, 5 right elbow.

  • On a top-to-wing pass, 1 cuts away to the weak deep wing; weak wing fills the slot.

  • Ball-side post (5) dives to the short corner; opposite post (4) replaces to the elbow.

  • On a short corner catch, the high post dives to the rim.

  • If no finish, pass out high opposite to reverse and reset.

  • On a high-post catch, the low post ducks in for high-low action.

  • Ball swings to weak slot, triggering reversal and repeating the X Games pattern.
