Overview:
Zone quick hitter designed to isolate the low defender and create an easy look inside for either 4 or 5, with a skip pass option to open the action.
Why It Works
The shallow cut and skip force the top defenders to shift, leaving the bottom defender stuck guarding both the high post and low post. This creates a built-in 2-on-1, making the defense choose between giving up a layup or a clean high-post touch.
Key Teaching Points
1 must sell the dribble at 2 to shift the top of the zone.
3’s screen must hold the top defender long enough for 2 to replace.
4 must sprint into the elbow area to open the high-low gap.
5 must cut across hard and seal his defender for inside position.
Start in a 1–4 high alignment: 1 top, 3 left wing, 2 right wing, 4 left short corner, 5 right short corner.
1 dribbles at 2, forcing a defensive shift.
3 cuts behind the top defender and screens as 2 shallow cuts across the foul line to replace 3.
1 skips the ball to 2 on the left wing.
As the skip occurs, 4 flashes to the left elbow and 5 cuts across to the left low block.
